Why Dr. Tanji?

FOR OVER 20 YEARS,  Dr. Marshall has been an educational leader in the classroom, a coach supporting teachers and district-level leaders, and a consultant to educational organizations.

I was one of those people who never thought I’d be an educator. I was going to be a couture fashion buyer and travel the world—think The Devil Wears Prada—with a little more humanity!

My journey began when I made the decision to leave the retail industry. When preparing for a buy of very expensive designer handbags, I realized that if I was going to work long hours and weekends, it was going to be for something with a lasting effect on humanity!

I started a tutoring program in the New Jersey neighborhood where I graduated high school. Seeing the spark in a young person’s eyes when they accomplished a new goal invigorated me, and I knew I had to make a change…

I was HOOKED! Education became my passion…I became a classroom teacher where my students were among the highest performers in the district making more than a year’s worth of gains each year I taught. My journey led me to become a Title I literacy coach, Associate Superintendent, K12 Literacy Specialist, as well as the Director of P12 Practice at the Education Trust.

I’ve been fortunate to coach educators at all levels, leaders across multiple industries, and curriculum publishers. My work nationally, and internationally has focused on supporting folks in building curricular, instructional and cultural knowledge and skills. 

Liaison Educational Partners was born out of my desire to foster change for students by fostering change for the adults who teach and lead them.
